Helping a US multinational navigate internal gatekeepers

#strategy #ghostwriting #blogging #engagement

The challenge

How to share the company’s sustainability successes with employees without access to key internal communications channels.

The solution

While lobbying efforts on the internal channels continued, I worked with the client to develop a series of interesting posts on sustainability for the new external corporate blog site.

The posts proved to be popular with both internal and external stakeholders. This helped to secure a regular slot on the corporate blog and tipped the balance on the internal channels front.

What did I do?

·       Devised a creative solution

·       Developed an editorial calendar of topical content

·       Interviewed key contributors

·       Wrote the blog posts

·       Liaised with corporate social media teams

·       Analysed readership statistics to help guide content strategy

Helping a UK Manufacturer get everyone on the same page

#messaging #strategy #campaigns #internalcomms #engagement #sustainability

The challenge

Armed with a robust new sustainability strategy, a UK manufacturer asked for help in communicating with their staff. With engagement and enthusiasm levels already high across the workforce, the challenge was in ensuring that nobody jumped the gun and shared messages with external stakeholders before the necessary evidence could be verified and a campaign designed.

The solution

Working with members of the senior leadership team, I designed a comprehensive, tailored messaging toolkit that clearly spelt out the rationale for the strategic, evidence-based approach to messaging.

The campaign went on to launch successfully, with senior leaders confident that all staff knew what could be shared with customers.

What did I do?

·       Reviewed all current messaging

·       Designed online workshops for data gathering and channel mapping

·       Drafted key messages, FAQs and toolkit resources

·       Advised on deployment and campaign integration

Raising awareness of mental health

#strategy #campaigns #messaging #employeeengagement

The challenge

A multinational construction company asked for my help in developing a strategy for raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing amongst its staff.

The solution

After reviewing all of the available staff survey feedback and speaking to a representative cross section of employees, I developed a comprehensive strategy which included recommendations around the review of key policies, the rollout of training, a global engagement campaign and the development of a dashboard for ongoing monitoring.

What did I do?

·       Reviewed the data and listened carefully to stakeholder concerns

·       Worked closely with senior leaders and the HR team to ensure the strategy was culturally and contextually aligned

·       Created a toolkit of campaign resources for ease of deployment

Helping a client break into a new market sector

#ghostwriting #contentcreation

The challenge

A specialist recruitment agency asked me to help raise their profile in a new market sector.

The solution

I interviewed a dozen senior leaders in the field which I then turned into by-lined articles for which were published monthly in the sector’s leading publication. The regular articles helped establish my client as a new provider in the sector.

What did I do?

·       Interviewed 12 senior leaders & managed all editing and signoffs

·       Liaised with the editorial team at the publication on key topics & readership statistics

·       Created ghost-written articles in the style of the host publication

·       Created social media posts for the easy sharing of content

·       Produced monthly readership reports

Uniting senior leaders around a shared message

#listening #coaching #facilitation #messaging

The challenge

With a high-profile launch date looming, the senior leaders of a new not-for-profit organisation were at loggerheads over the articulation of the organisation’s core proposition.

The solution

Parachuted in to get the project moving and everyone on the same page, after reviewing all of the existing materials I me with each member of the board one to one to understand more about the source of the conflict. Next, I designed and facilitated a messaging workshop where the organisations’ vision, purpose and articles of association were all reviewed, refined and – most importantly, agreed.

What did I do?

·       Listened carefully to stakeholder concerns

·       Designed a workshop focused on points of agreement

·       Facilitated a frank and constructive discussion to reach a compromise

·       Created detailed messaging documents & secured unanimous sign-off
